Mailman seems to be what the lists I'm on use, including this list (though admittedly that's because I run half of them) I used to have to admin majordomo, and it's not that great if you're in a virtual domains type environment. I've heard a few people recommend ezmlm, but laziness prevents me from paying much attention to it, it handles huge lists better though, iirc. the hatter
