LPI has a responsibility to all of its certificate holders to ensure
that the certification
has relevance and validity within the market. In our consultations with
industry they
have been very clear that a 10 year (and a lifetime, even more so)
certification
is not keeping pace with technological change.

If LPI had required new certification holders to renew every 5 years
while "older" certification
holders had a ten year recertification we would have effectively created
two classes of LPI
certification. This would have caused considerable confusion within the
marketplace and
probably would have been detrimental to both "classes" of certification
for a variety of reasons.

One option open to you is to pursue a higher level certification--this
will automatically update
your previous level of certification.

Please know that the point you raised was extensively discussed by our
Board of Directors and
was made in the best interests of the perception of value and relevancy
for ALL LPI certificate holders.

Thanks for your comments.
