The LPIC-3 rules have been changed a couple of times afaik. I think at one point you needed a main exam (301) and a speciality exam (30[2345]). I'm not sure (I am a mere LPIC-1 mortal :">). But take a look at: http://wiki.lpi.org/wiki/LPIC2AndLPIC3SummaryVersion3To4#1.1_Changes_to_the_LPIC-2.2FLPIC-3_Programs They changed it so you just need the Speciality exam.
