I think it would be extremely disappointing if, after all the effort that has gone into making Linux an enterprise-capable framework in it own right, LPI began certifying administrators in the use of Novell NDS and Netware, because someone thinks they're "the best vendor-supported enterprise option."

This sounds just like certifying on Tivoli or Unicenter TNG. Those are vendor-supported options, too.

This gets me thinking.... And maybe this has been discussed elsewhere,
but what about a L3 topic of Linux in the enterprise. Topics that pertain
to large Linux installations, perhaps what you might eventually see with
Netware/NDS on Linux. Of course, other stuff too, like enterprise
printing, using NIS, Kerberos/PKI, Integrating with NetBios networks via
SAMBA, password sync, etc. etc. It seems to me a fairly logical
progression, truth be told - since that is where Linux is heading anyway. In this arena, Novell might be helpful, as eDirectory, et al may be the
best vendor-supported enterprise option. There might also be tie-ins with
the enterprise hardware vendors such as IBM - clustering, virtual
machines, etc.
