That was exactly my plan: Explain the LPI objective "init/initttab",
but mention "new developments underway": upstart. It is not in the
objectives, but nice to know.

No, please don't. As Sander wrote, there will be for a long time lots of
systems (still) using /etc/inittab.

I'm going to leave upstart off completely for now.
If there's any courseware publishers around, though, you may want to mention
it in your books. ;)
