Hi Thomas, The syslog NG idea was floated back in early 2008 for LPIC-2 but it pretty much got shot down during the JTA survey. And, yes, we're listing default locations for places where there is consistency between distributions. If there is no consistency, then the path is dropped. Except for things like chrooting, changing default paths isn't really explored in the exams.
