Sigh... I will have to confess my very private closet perversion:
I like the Phaser 560 quality. As for its network connectivity
and mananagement... Ummm... well... I cannot say anything good
about it. But the output is REALLY nice... Sigh... And several
other folks here agree. So we put up with the 'once a week'
problems.

Now as you suspect, when I have something that I use myself and
I have problems, it gets my very own personal treatment. And I
still cannot make this thing work reliably.

You MUST use the appsocket protocol. The 'connection' termination
is critical to getting this thing to reset itself to a 'fairly known'
state.

Even with Appsocket we see the thing lock up for no reasonable or
predictible reason. We even firewalled it off on its very own
network and only TCP/IP to it and it still had problems about once
a week. We gave up.

Yep. The thing has gone by-by. Sulking. Wants to be burped.
You need to manually reset it.

We know THAT one only too well.

Don't get your hopes raised.

You will probably find that they are using binary images. Set the
'tbcp' option for the printer. This, however, does not seem to
solve the problem. Some times after a job locks up, if you do a 'lpc redo'
(assuming the job is still in the queue), the job runs fine.

This had led to screaming and shrieking, frothing and foaming, cursing
and yelling by the various staff members.

I was also a little upset. I can't sleep with all that noise.

Prozac. One for you, and one for the users.
