All these suggestions seem to do it make me tell you about how little
fun it is to do printing here. :)
Certain printers need to generate headers sometimes. The printers that
*never* want a header are easy. The printers that have to generate a
header if it is between 13:00 and 14:00 on Tuesdays and Thursdays are a
bit harder, especially since most people here insist on using DOS for
all their work. If they all used a UNIX then they could control
headers, but the only way to make DOS do that is to have two sets of
queues on the Samba server, and that would confuse people. Not to
mention our privacy policy. It explicitly forbids employees and users
from looking at a print out without permission of the owner. The header
pages are there to "hide" the print out. On the plus side, if some
student is looking at pornography in the user area, and someone
complains about it then they are in trouble for violating the privacy of
the pervert by looking at his screen without his permission. :)
