I already had the default paths in there, I had thought of that.
I actually got it to work. I upgraded my lpd to the latest version
(3.6.22) and all my problems went away. Since I can't remember why I
was running 3.6.2 it must not be too important. Since the school is
between semesters I can get away with breaking printing just in case I
still really need 3.6.2 for something odd.
So, um, how would I process the accounting for header pages separately
from the rest of the print job? I need header pages to have their own
special entry in the logfile.
