Hello!

Thanks for the help. I summarised your printcap into the following cos
I am currently not implementing accounting and also filter and banner
printing :-

test:
# :rm=test-printer:rp=raw
     :lp=test-printer%9100
     :sd=/var/spool/lpd/%P
     :lpd_bounce

The job queue automatically times out and deletes itself away after the
default 3 attempts are over. My Jetdirect is currently offline/spoilt so
I didn't get to try if the print jobs can actually get printed but the
thing is that unprinted print jobs get's automatically deleted away.

However, I noticed that if I make use of the rm=:rp= setting instead of
the lp=%9100 setting, I will get an error almost immediately when trying
to print to the printer and the job won't even make it to the print
queue.

Status Information:
 sending job 'root@localhost+107' to raw@test-printer
 connecting to 'test-printer', attempt 1
cannot open connection to test-printer - No route to host
Make sure LPD server is running on the server

Is this the "correct" way? Why would using rm/rp give a different
response to lp%9100?

BTW, is the :server parameter needed in this case?

Thanks!
