I am trying to print to a Dazel server that accepts standard lpr print
spooling as specified in RFC 1179. When ever I print to the server using
'lpr -Pdazel' with the following printcap entry,
dazel
:lp=printer@dazel
:sd=/var/spool/lpd/%P
:af=/var/spool/lpd/%P/acct
:lf=/var/spool/lpd/%P/log
:cd=/var/spool/lpd/%P/
the Dazel lpr daemon dies. However when I use 'lpr -Pprinter@dazel' the
Dazel lpr daemon does not die and the job is passed to the printer
corectly. I have the same result with LPRng-3.6.26 and LPRng-3.7.4. I
have been able to succesfully print to the Dazel server using BSD lpd
(the one that ships with RedHat 6.2), and from a print server runing PLP
3.1 (yea it's old). My question what would cause the lpr client to act
differently that the LPRng daemon?
Rob Fausey.
