Hi,
I'm trying to get the networked Canon GP 160 Copier to work
under lprng, ifhp, ghostscript and samba 2.2 (not my idea,
just the canon sales rep sneaked a networking card in the
copier after it was installed here). As far as I can tell
read that's a RFC1179 device ; the other specifications in
the documentation are :
Paper sizes :
* two orientations : A4, A5, B5, letter (I suppose two kind
of feed are accepted for these)
* one orientation : legal, B3, A3, 11x17
Simplex
Input trays :
* manual (100)
* tray1 (250)
* optional tray 2,3,4 (250)
Resolution : 600 ppp (300 ppp accepted)
Data compression : MRT3
Language : PCL6 (PCL-XL+PLC5e)
I've tried the folowing printcap entries :
calypso:\
:sh \
:[EMAIL PROTECTED]
calypso:server \
:cm=Canon GP160, server \
:[EMAIL PROTECTED] \
:append_z=a4 \
:lpd_bounce \
:force_localhost \
:sd=/var/spool/lpd/gp160 \
:ifhp=model=pcl_gs \
:of=/usr/libexec/filters/ifhp \
:filter=/usr/libexec/filters/ifhp
But the margins are wrong, the printing quality suboptimal
and using the canon pcl drivers on the samba exported
calypso entry freezes the copier. Is it possible to get a
better
support for this device in ifhp ?
Regards,
