We also had buggy PJL implementations to work with, so it was necessary to wait longer than 5 seconds (10-20 seconds were needed for accurate page counts). SNMP status monitoring improved that situation tremendously. We don't have printers that will report "idle" for 1/2 seconds in the middle of a job, as far as I know. SNMP, at least on our Xerox Phaser 5400 and HP LJ 4050/4100/4500/8100 printers, has a job status OID to query, and a job in progress will still show "printing" there even if the display shows "Idle". It would be interesting to verify these status bits remain in an "in progress" mode until the job actually completes. -- ============================================================================ John Perkins | University of Wisconsin-Madison Associate Researcher | Department of Computer Science [EMAIL PROTECTED] | 1210 W.
