With our old printing system, users were able to type "lpr -Pprinter" and
the right thing would happen. With the new system, it's necessary to type
"lpr [EMAIL PROTECTED]", or the local machine will attempt to print
directly to the printer (which'll fail because of network access
restrictions). Same with lpq, lprm, lpc, etc.
I'd like to go back to the old behaviour. What am I doing wrong?
(I suspect that the lpd_bounce and force_localhost options are involved)
Sample bit of printcap:
.servercommon:
:sd=/var/spool/lpd/lprng/%P
:af=/var/spool/lpd/lprng/%P.log
:create_files=TRUE
:ar=TRUE
:mx=0
:lpd_bounce
:force_localhost@
:filter=/usr/local/libexec/filters/ifhp
:append_z=duplex
:remove_z=simplex
:ab
:bl=$P $h $n $J $t
:bp=/usr/local/libexec/filters/bannerpage.perl
