Don't run an LPD on your client systems, and in /etc/lpd.conf (or wherever
you configured it to go) set

        force_localhost@
        default_remote_host=spooler-host-and-domain

At that point, you also don't need a local printcap on your clients.  All the
smarts reside on your print server host, and the clients send everything
there.
