Not sure about that particular error but we got a
 great deal fewer jetdirect errors when the firewalls
 went in.

 Anyone with .edu suffix is probably experiencing constant
 outside scanning and the jetdirect cards tend to be sensitive
 to having garbage pumped into them.

 You may try putting it on a non-internet network and see
 if it does OK in that environment. If so and firewalls
 are out of the question, one of those little home router
 units can decrease the amount of crud the printer sees
 radically. Something in the $30-$50 range should do nicely.

 ..or you could think of the problem as a particuarly akward
 Intrusion Detection System :-(.
