Lanier has actually been pretty responsive on this issue.  They've 
come out to replace the imaging board, added memory, added a hard 
disk, and taken other things apart a number of times now, all under
warranty.  

However, to go any further requires getting the attention of higher 
level engineering staff.  They don't seem to be quite as responsive 
toward making any changes.  I believe those people are the Ricoh 
engineers.

We have seen similar behavior out of our Lanier 2145 printers on 
occasion, although not nearly as often.  Still better than the HP
8000/8100 series printers that would say they printed jobs 
successfully but in reality printed zero pages.  :P

Of course not.  Nor would I.

Yes, but you still can't tell the printer there are transparencies in 
either tray.  Notifying the printer you have transparency media will 
lower the fuser temperature slightly.  From what I can tell, this is 
coded into the printer firmware.
