In the past I have successfully subjected disobedient and stubborn
video cards to the following scenario:
1) Take it out of the terminal
2) Plug it into a (spare?) standalone Linux box
3) Backup the current XF86Config file
3) Execute the video setup tool that comes with your distro
(ie. SAX in the case of SuSE)
4) Copy the functional XF86Config file to your LTSP server
5) Restore the original XF86Config on the Linux box
6) Plug the card back into the terminal
Admittedly, it is a somewhat tedious workaround, but it surely avoids
fiddling with stuff like mode-lines and refresh rates. After all, I am
a programmer, not a number cruncher ;-)
