I'm struggling with a workstation which will not boot properly. I'm using
LTSP 3 on a RHL 7.2 system.
The ws uses a 3c509b-tpo in PnP mode and an STB Nitro 3D (GX) video card.
During boot it finds its ip address and the kernel is sent across. The last
messages before it freezes are
mknbi-1.2.6/first32.c (GPL)
65536k total memory
Ramdisk at 0X03F8E000, size 0X00072000
You passed an undefined mode number
Press <RETURN> to see video modes available, <SPACE> to continue or wait
30secs
Uncompressing Linux... Ok, booting the kernel.
I've tried a different video card, then it seems OK. I've tried various X
servers (The chipset on the card says S3 Virge/GX, although www.xfree86.org
says it should use XF86_SVGA) and 'auto'. All same problem.
Then I've got a question regarding the 3c509b-tpo. Can this be run in PnP
mode (I've got a number of these and was hoping to avoid having to turn off
PnP)? My card stops at trying to do the second dhcp request. I have
option-128 e4:45:74:68:00:00;
option-129 "NIC=3c509";
in the dhcpd.conf file. (dhcpd server is ISC 2.0pl5)
Finally, how do I, in the option-129 line, handle a 3c503, which requires the
8390 module to be inserted prior to the 3c503?
Thanks,
