Graeme,
Do you get both these errors in a single run or do you get the "No
screens" error during some runs and the "No configured devices" error
during other runs?
Also, your version of XFree86 sounds like you are talking about the
version of XFree86 that your server is using (/usr/X11R6/bin). This has
absolutely no bearing on the LTSP workstations, which are using the
XFree86 in /opt/ltsp/i386/usr/X11R6/bin. Also, when you are using
XF86_* in the lts.conf, that tells LTSP to use XFree86 version 3.3.6
binaries that you have to download and install separately. I think Jim
already covered that, so I assume you've already done this.
If that is the case, then the "No screens" error is GOOD! It means that
the device was found and that only the modeline settings need tweaking.
See the link I sent in the other email about Monitors and modelines.
You are probably going to have to play with modelines for a while to get
it working under X3.3.6 (v4 eliminates the modeline hell).
The latest revision of XFree86 v4 (4.2, I think) includes support for
S3, so perhaps it would save you a lot of pain to switch to XFree86
v4.2. I think the current LTSP x core uses v4.1. You could either
download and compile 4.2 for yourself and install in under /opt/ltsp/...
or you could wait for the next version of the LTSP X package to come out.
