Hi Jason Being a relative newbie to LTSP, I wasn't sure, what to look for, and thanks for the pointers. I seem to have narrowed it down to a S3 775 chip that XF86 reports as not being S3, but a Sigma REALMagic chip, and these are giving me untold headaches. If I set it to XF86_SVGA, I get a seg fault doing a query on the server. I have successfully installed Trident 9440, an old Tseng ISA 1025kb card, and a Trident ISA 9000 (I think), but it all boils down to this one S3 card. There are two S3 cards that look identical except for the RAM, and one works and is detected as S3, and the other not. The one with Siemens RAM chips doesn't work, and gets reported as the REALMagic card. When this one tries to boot into GUI login screen, it gives me that seg fault error.
I thank everyone for their valued input, and one day I will return the favour and support guys on this list. I have learned a lot in the past few days about modes, modelines, etc, etc. If anyone can has any further pointers on the above mentioned S3 (NOT) display card, I will appreciate greatly. Otherwise, I will continue testing all others to replace these b&^#$tard cards.
