Your Xserver is working, but have no clients to display. This means
that there is a problem with the display manager running at the
application server (LTSP-server) (or possibly a firewall setting that
blocks the traffic). See the documentation for LTSP.

The root prompt is at the workstation, and not to the LTSP-server. It
is there to make it easy to troubleshoot. But in your case the
workstations works. The problems is the display manager at the server.
