    Before we get to far afield, I thought I'd throw in something you should know.  
"Native" NFS anyway, including Redhat Linux from 6.2, has an unwritten rule that I've 
never seen in the docs.  If it's there, it's not obvious:

    You *can* share your exports with, say, 192.168.1.*,(rw)  but when you mount them, 
they'll be read-only.  If you call'em out by their IP number, you can specify it as 
R/W *and* it'll actually be so.  This was intended to be a security feature, and I 
agree with it NOW...after fighting it and learning the trick.  That keeps new stations 
from just hopping onto the network and getting full access...
