We are going to implement a similar solution. have the user boot the diskless workstation with a linux image. Hopefully have it autologin to some window manager(blackbox) and run rdesktop from the .bashrc file to attach to the Win2k TS. This way they won't even see the linux portion if I can get the autologin working.
