Under XFree86 4.x, you usually don't specify anything except some name for
your card, monitor, kbd, and mouse (The "Identifier" tokens). So you can try
cutting out any extra specifications you have in your XF86Config-4.

It could be that you're using XFree 3.x in your standalone operation, which
LTSP uses 4.x by default.

You can view the XF86Config that the workstation uses by setting its runlevel
to 3 in lts.conf and going to the /tmp directory after it boots to a shell
prompt.
