The CONFIG file is also set to /tftpboot/ltsp/i386, that seems to work,

I have done and checked all of the script files.

I came a little bit further in the meantime:

I restarted the nfsserver and than it goes ahaed !!!

It stops now in retrying to get an X-windows to start
The last screen shows:

Fatal server error:
No screens found

... see log file /var/log/Xfree86.0.log,
however this file should be on my server with
/tmp/var/log/XFree86.0.log, but does not exist!

The /var/log/message files shows some entries:

Oct 3 15:32:04 ronald rpc.mountd: authenticated mount request from
192.168.251.20:689 for /tftpboot/ltsp/i386 (/tftpboot/ltsp/i386)
Oct 3 15:32:40 ronald last message repeated 7 times
Oct 3 15:33:44 ronald last message repeated 13 times
Oct 3 15:34:44 ronald kernel: hw tcp v4 csum failed
Oct 3 15:37:08 ronald kdm[2249]: Cannot convert Internet address
192.168.251.20 to host name
Oct 3 15:37:44 ronald last message repeated 5 times
Oct 3 15:38:14 ronald last message repeated 4 times
Oct 3 15:38:21 192.168.251.20 init: Id "9" respawning too fast:
disabled for 5 minutes

192.168.251.20 is the ltsp client, called ron-TC

When I have a look at the directory /tftpboot/ltsp/i386 than I find
symbolic links there to /tmp and these files do not exist.
I tried to touch these files.
The last messages before the Xserver starts is creating XF86free.config
and creating start_ws (or similar) and these files seems are not created.

I believe it is a permission problem, why the /tmp files are not created.
Somehow I also don't understand it. Since there is no distingquishing
WHICH client connects, and if each one writes into the /tmp directory
without their own identification, than it would give me the trouble as
soon as two clients are connected.

I am using SuSE 8.0 and not all script files from the template is the
same, so I had to check each one and start the services by hand.

bye

Ronald
