John,
        you can use just about any port for ssh. if you want to use port
80, make sure you don't run a web server on your linux box, set port 80 in
sshd.conf file on the server and in ssh.conf file on the client. If at all
possible, it is better to use port 22, but if you have no access to
firewall config, port 80 will work. julius
