Before I try tomorrow...:
Am I wright, you propose to set this line into dhcpd.conf, so it would be

# that's the machine!
host essen9{
hardware ethernet 00:80:c8:94:40:45;
fixed-address 172.16.99.9;
filename "/lts/vmlinuz";
option-129 mem=32768k;
}

Would that be correct?
I wonder if my dhcpd understands an option-129.
My dhcpd seems to ISC dhcpd Version 2 and the manpage doesn't tell anything
about this feature.
