I've never installed dhcpd the way you described, however, but > just did an RPM -ivh of the package. By default, there is not config > file, but only a dhcpd.config.sample that is copied to /etc. I was hoping someone was going to point me at a log or something that would say why the thing just fails, I've had a look around but I don't know enough to find any log for dhcp. So the difference between the way you installed the package and the way i did was simply that you didn't move it to /tmp? I've just read instructions telling me to install from /tmp so that was what I did, I thought you had to. Is that not the case then? Help! I'm still stuck, I just know this will be something really daft when some kind person tells me where I've dropped off.
