Anselm, Thank you again for your reply

Yes they are in a single hub. The adresses are 198.162.0.1-2-3 and the mask is 255.255.255.0 > Can you tftp-get the file from the win machine? No, I can't tftp-get the file from the win machine. The server gives me the same message about the user nobody. I tried to assign the user nobody to the root group to no avail. > What does etherboot display when you turn on the > diskless machine? I can't hook the monitor to the client now since it is in another room. I'll try later. At the step (error message) before this one I had the user root (instead of tftp) set in the /etc/xinetd.d/tftp. The message I had from Etherboot was that it couldn't find the file /tftpboot/lts/vmlinuz-2.4.19-lts-1 and the /var/log/messages showed this: Mar 8 16:01:56 k7s5a dhcpd: DHCPDISCOVER from 00:07:95:fd:44:24 via eth0 Mar 8 16:01:56 k7s5a dhcpd: DHCPOFFER on 192.168.0.3 to 00:07:95:fd:44:24 via eth0 Mar 8 16:01:56 k7s5a dhcpd: DHCPREQUEST for 192.168.0.3 (192.168.0.2) from 00:07:95:fd:44:24 via eth0 Mar 8 16:01:56 k7s5a dhcpd: DHCPACK on 192.168.0.3 to 00:07:95:fd:44:24 via eth0 This lines were repeated indefinitely. Looks like now the client can connect to the tftpd but the user thing is hanging it. Clodoaldo _______________________________________________________________________ Busca Yahoo!
