That again could have to do with yp, which could be used to
authenticate. Another possibility is (but I had no chance to test it):
Edit /opt/ltsp/i386/etc/passwd on the server and remove the "x" from
the "root:x:......" line. This could have set the password to empty...
worth a try.

But this would me make think. Most probably you cannot get it to run
without yp/nis. As I told you, www.tldp.org is your friends if you
need a howto, well, the "ypdomainname" command has a manpage which
could you help setting up your linux server.

I'm sure the process of getting that login stuff going is well
documented, but if you need further help, I'm off as I do not really
know my way around yp (at least it's better than xp, well :-)
