This means you got the driver to load. Did you change initrd? What
error messages are displayed exactly?

Please use the kernel supplied by LTSP. That one should work, for the
beginning.
If problems continue, please quote at least the last five lines on the
screen, before "Kernel panic". That could give some nice hints.
In general, LTSP kernels support NE2000 boards without problems.
