        fsck should be run if needed before the system comes up. If you
can take the computer down to single user mode and then run single user 
mode. If you HAVE to check the file system on a live system. You will 
ought to unmount the file system first and remount it afterwards. 
        Try your local Linux User Group Mailing list for stadard linux 
problems.
        Sorry about the delay my ISP spent a week fixing a very minor bug.
