Halo everyone,
Hello Priya
I have set up LTSP with 50 workstations. I need to connect
a
printer to the client. My LTSP server is running on Suse 8
which does not have a printtool to configure a jetdirect
printer as mentioned in ltsp doc.
With Suse 8.x you have the chance to handle a printer with a jetdirect box in a very simple way using cups and yast.
We do this in an installation with Suse 8.2, about 50 clients, several postscript printers with network interface and one HP Laserjet III with a jetdirect box. There is a specific option for those printers in the yast printer configuration tool. Using cups you could manage the printer also using your browser. (But we installed everything with yast and it worked fine out of the box.)
The first step would be to install cups and not lpd. Please ask for more help if necessary.
Kind regards. Gerhard Damerau
