Hi. We are using Linux in several servers but now we are evaluating install LTSP4 to replace several PC that are currently running Win9x. The users in this PC only needs a telnet session to a Unix server, an Internet browser and a simple document editor. Some of this PC are very old (486 DX4 with 16 MB RAM)
The complete network has +200 workstations but in this first step we are planning to replace about 40. The network is 10 years old in some zones. Mainly 10 mbit and with several 10base2 cables. Each floor of the building is connected to a 10baseT switch (using a media converter) but in some zones we +20 PC connected to the same coaxil cable. I would like to know which performance I could obtain using this network? It will be very useful for me to hear of experiences installing LTSP in this kind of network environment. Thanks in advance for any advice.
