Jim,

Thanks, I just uninstalled and re-installed everything, so .... now I get a
wonderful different error. Your guess about the wrong kernel was correct, but
when I tried to specify the correct kernel, it still wanted to use the old one.
I use a soft link to locate the correct kernel. It was then that I decided to
just uninstall/reinstall. Having done this, I now get

mount: failed,192.168.0.254:/opt/ltsp-4.1/i386 reason given by server:
permission denied.

I checked the dhcpd.conf entry and it is 192.168.0.254:/opt/ltsp-4.1/i386

I know that 4.1 will work since I installed K12LTSP 4.1 on my laptop and can
use it to boot all of these systems by plugging the laptop into the switch. I
just can't seem to upgrade properly.

Perhaps there is some service I need to stop/start other than dhcpd?

Thanks for any advice.

Sincerely,
Dave Hopkins

p.s. I will not uninstall what I now have, but instead try to determine the
permission issue.
