We are using the local device scheme in LTSP 4.1.1, with Gideon's latest
hotplug script. This setup works nicely with USB storage sticks.
However, we have experienced a problem that crops up only when using
files and directories containing characters that are in the
international character sets. The systems we use are almost universially
ISO-8859-1, though some are UTF-8.
It is not possible to write files or directories containing these
characters. Error message sample:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/drives/DiskOnKey_1$ touch .txt
touch: cannot touch .txt: No such file or directory
Files and directories that have been produced when the stick is not
connected to a thin client are not shown at all in listings.
The environment is Debian Sarge running KDE 3.3 and Konqueror as file
manager. Using a shell does not change the behaviour, as seen above.
Touching a file outside the mountpoint with the USB stick does not
produce any errors.
Any thoughts and suggestions for a fix is appreciated.
Ragnar
