Hmm... depending on your model, you could consider installing a Linux firmware on it. Yes, Linux! Then, you can have everything you need on the AP, forwarding NFS X and things alike to the ethernet server.
One detail regarding wireless devices is that I don't know, until now, any device with PXE or etherboot enabled.
