The laptops are on mobile carts that go from classroom to classroom
several times a day. A wired network wouldn't fly at all. The teachers
would have a mutiny before they would run around with a 24 port switch
and 24 network cables traversing the classroom. The complain about the
long boot times for Win2K as it is.
I'm thinking maybe local installs xubuntu with nomachine clients is the
best way to go. Has anybody tried something like that for their laptops?
Has there ever been any thought given to a LTSP "livecd" with wireless
support built into the kernel? That would be amazing for all the older
wireless devices that schools have invested in.
