Here are the settings I use for an OptiPlex GX1:

         X_COLOR_DEPTH      = 24
         SCREEN_02          = shell
         SOUND              = Y
         SOUND_DAEMON       = esd
         VOLUME             = 100
         MIC_VOLUME         = 100
         CD_VOLUME          = 75
         MODULE_02          = soundcore
         MODULE_03          = sound
         MODULE_04          = ad1848
         MODULE_05          = uart401
         MODULE_06          = "cs4232 io=0x220 irq=5 dma=1 dma2=3"
