Jerry,
We have sucessfully created several remote outq's on our AS/400 (v5R2)
which are defined as residing on our LTSP (or any Linux print server.
We don't print directly to the Neoware with the printer attached but its
more flexible to print to a printer server (which has the neoware
printer defined) anyway. This lets the server do the spooling, makes
that printer available for other network printing and works great!.

Setting up a remote outq on as400 to print to LTSP server with thin
client attached printer
==================================================================================
Overview:
Step 1- Create an outq on the as400
Step 2- Create a (jetdirect) printer on the remote linux system
This is like any Linux printer setup
STEP 1 CREATE OUTQ on AS/400
-----------------------------
CRTOUTQ (F4)
OUTPUT QUEUE: Enter name by which the queue will be known by on the
AS/400
REMOTE SYSTEM: INTNETADR
REMOTE PRINTER QUEUE: name of queue as defined on the remote system
ie via printtool/printcap
note that this is CASE sensitive, enclose in
quotes ie 'hp5simx'
WRITERS TO AUTOSTART: 1

User data transform . . . . . . *SAME Name, *SAME, *NONE
Library . . . . . . . . . . . Name, *LIBL, *CURLIB
These two settings direct the as400 to send plain ascii text with NO

Library . . . . . . . . . . . *LIBL Name, *LIBL, *CURLIB

Forms Control Buffer . . . . . . *SAME Character value, *NONE...
REMOTE OPTIONS: XAIX
We've been using this to print from our AS/400 to PC lasers attached to
both Linux PC's and Neoware thin clients for several years.
We even have remote outq+printq's defined to convert spool to text, then
to PDF.
Glad to provide more info if you need. I'd love to see y'all move to LTSP !.
