Is ssh required with LTSP 5, or is it a matter of setting SCREEN_01=ssh / telnet / startx ? If ssh is a new requirement, that is unfortunate, since it increases latency and makes many applications sluggish. This is particularly noticeable in menus, and graphical apps such as Gimp, and decreases the advantage remote X11 has over buffered protocols like RDP or NX on local networks. It does increase security in theory because the LAN traffic is encrypted, but in general, if an attacker has physical access to your LAN you're already in trouble, regardless of the protocol in use. For Internet use, one should be using RDP/NX for better performance, anyway, and both of those are encrypted to one degree or another. -Todd ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Surveys.
