I filed this bug against Fedora 8 when I couldn't make my LTSP terminal work:

Ray Strode subsequently built a new gdm that includes that fix, and the problem
is solved.

gdm-2.20.1-7.fc8

That is the current version that should be obtainable with a "yum update" with
any Fedora 8 installation.  I have had it installed and running on this
computer since November 16, and it works fine for me.

As stated above, the problem has been resolved in Fedora 8.
