Don't get too picky about "official". - If you need a different arch,
you need to get a client fs from somewhere. And if the project site
offers one for download, that's the best to start with.

Wasn't that because etch wasn't stable at that time? - At least, that
was what I gathered form this wording

That's where I actually started. But it doesn't tell you how to get an
i386-fs if you're running amd64.

... finally it worked with a chroot and debootstrap ... but that was a
bit of a way.

Nevertheless a bit of the confusion comes from the fact, that there is
not much structured documentation around for ltsp 5 yet unlike for ltsp
3.0/4.x

So please calm down and don't take anything personal.
