Okay, I've made the following change to...

/opt/ltsp/i386/etc/udev/rules.d/15-ltsp-block.rules

At the bottom of section USB Pens I added 

KERNEL=="sd[a-z]",      RUN+="/etc/udev/scripts/ltsp-device.sh %s{size}"

It's now working but as if it was a floppy.

Before my change I did notice that, whilst the detection wasn't working, the 
removal was but as a floppy.

I'll now try and tweak ltsp-device.sh to recognise it correctly.

Getting there - hopefully!
