<looks at specs>
A sempron 2100 with 512M is NOT struggling with encryption!
Radeon X1250 is not struggling with graphics!

The mystery deepens because you say 4 works well but 5 does not.
Can you check via a shell on the TC if say 5 is using vesa graphics instead of 
the 1250 driver
