While trying to rebuild the image with the via unichrome drivers included I saw that a few updates were available for kiwi-ltsp.
Updated the kiwi-ltsp image, related rpms and also the kernel (xen kernel, yea all this is working on XEN ;-) ) all works now. I see the unichrome driver now being loaded. That has made the difference and saved me some labour. Yet having another issue of abrupt session termination at the TCs after a few minutes of activity. Working on it. May be I shall post it as a separate topic/thread.
