> 3) Java sometimes takes 100% CPU To fix the Java problem, do a search on this newsgroup for "libX11.so.6.2.0". There are some posts about how to get the package(s) from Hardy. If you replace the /usr/lib/libX11.so.6.2.0 file and/or /usr/lib32/libX11.so.6.2.0 file (as necessary, depending on if you are on a 64 bit system), it might fix your problem.
It fixes real slow Java and wine problems. It's worth a try for your problem. Keep your backups of you original files just to be on the safe side. On our 64 bit system, when I replaced the 64 bit library, I vaguely remember it killing both the server and the client gui's. I had to reboot, and all was well after that. The same would go for a 32 bit system. It'll reload X, or something (I'm sorry, I don't remember exactly.), so you will want to do this when no one is on the system. (It makes sense. You put in a new version of the library while it's running, it'll reload it, and restart X. It's no big deal, as long as you are aware that this will happen.) You might also try a different version of your JVM. Sun's seems to work best on our 8.04 64 bit system. > 1) Reboot of the sometimes requires a reboot of the clients > it looks like nbd loses the connection If you mean reboot of the server, I think this is pretty normal. I don't think there is anything you can do about it. I could be wrong, though. > 2) Stray user process stay running I have this, too, but none of the other problems - thank God. Don't know what to tell you about it. Maybe someone else can help out on this. Hope this helps. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ SF.Net email is Sponsored by MIX09, March 18-20, 2009 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
