I'm just starting to move to LTSP 5 now, after using LTSP 4 for years.
(using Debian for what it's worth)

I understand that LTSP 5 detects everything on boot, which is at least
partly why it takes a lot longer to boot than LTSP 4.

However, given that the hardware usually stays the same, is it possible to
record all the settings and then specify just those in the config?
Hopefully with the intention that booting will be much quicker as a
result.
