I don't think Gadi means install them on each computer, he means use local
apps.  This is a recent enough development in LTSP whereby you can install
a program into the shared chroot environment which each terminal sees.
This means the program is available to the terminal itself to run on its
own CPU and RAM, rather than running it across the network.  So it's still
only one install, the code just executes in a different place.

The setup for local apps is a little more involved and this is still quite
a new feature (I'm not sure whether to call it experimental still), but it
might be a solution for you if running Maple over the network is sluggish.

One possible drawback is that the as the application itself is now running
on the client's CPU and RAM, if you need a lot of CPU (eg for heavy
computations), the terminal might be a little slow.
